Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:
- A double shooting in Marrero is being treated as a possible murder-suicide. According to the JPSO, officers responded to the call of gunshots around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday on Mesa Drive. Officers found two men with gunshot wounds who had died at the scene. The incident is still being investigated but it is believed that one man shot the other and then took his own life. (WWLTV.com)
- The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office is bringing in outside recruits to help with Mardi Gras this year and have made agreements with other departments. All visiting officers will have a completed Level 1 basic training certification and a minimum of two years of experience, but there will not be any special training specific for the parades. (WWLTV.com)
- The reporter who sued for the names of the voters who signed the Mayor LaToya Cantrell recall petition settled the lawsuit on Wednesday, and will now have access to the "names, addresses and birth years" of those who signed beginning Feb. 22. That day is also the deadline for the recall campaign to reach their goal number in order to cause a recall election. (FOX 8 Local First)
