Hello all. It's me, Shannon Denney, your host of the Daily. Keep reading to find out the most important things going on in town, including updates on...

- The new Mississippi River Bridge
But first, today's weather:
Sunny and pleasant. High: 81 Low: 64.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in New Orleans who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our New Orleans Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:
- NOLA Public Schools officials are going door to door across New Orleans shedding light on Attendance Awareness Month. Since the pandemic and Hurricane Ida, attendance across New Orleans schools has declined. Officials have been taking it upon themselves to go door to door and impress upon others the importance that attendance has on a child's education. (WDSU New Orleans)
- The National Weather Service has issued a "Red Flag Warning" to all of Southeast Louisiana asking residents not to openly burn material. It is also, as the New Orleans Fire Department has reminded the public, illegal to conduct open burns in Orleans Parish. Right now is an especially dangerous time, with dry air and high winds. (Press Release Desk)
- The new Mississippi River Bridge could potentially destroy an old growth forest with trees that have been standing for as long as 300 years. There are three potential zones where the bridge could connect in Iberville Parish, and many residents are campaigning against the proposed use of the land. The DOTD is preforming studies to see which area of forest would feel the least impact of the bridge were to be built. (WAFB)
