Here are the top stories today in New Orleans:
- A two alarm fire in Broadmoor has left three people displaced. Around 7:30 am on Saturday firefighters arrived on the scene to a two story wood framed house in flames. - Three suspects attempted to hold up a New Orleans East business on Friday night, but instead at least one was shot and injured by an employee. The three suspects entered the business through the back door when an employee opened fired and shot at least one suspect, though little information is available whether others were injured as well. The suspect is now recovering in the hospital and it is currently unclear if the attempted robbery was actually successful. (FOX 8 Local First)
- The former NOPD officer who was accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl who he was escorting to a rape kit exam, Rodney Vicknair, plead guilty on Wednesday and is awaiting sentencing scheduled for March. The investigation, conducted by NOPD's public integrity bureau, revealed that Vicknair befriended the victim and communicated with her virtually for months and would show up to her house unannounced. Vicknair assaulted the victim when he was transporting her from her house to the hospital and locked the doors to his car and touched her without consent. (FOX NEWS)
