Here are the top stories today in New Orleans:
- A 15-year-old boy has been reported missing after being last seen on Oct. 25. Jamal Amacker was last seen in his home on Forstall Street but has not been heard from since Tuesday. Police are asking for anyone with information to contact them or Crimestoppers. (WDSU New Orleans)
- Mayor LaToya Cantrell's travel expenses controversy finally came to a close when she officially repaid the city the approximately $29,000 in travel upgrades this week. The money came from her personal account, not a campaign fund, and a spokesperson expressed that she is ready to put the matter behind her and put her energy towards working for the needs of New Orleans. - In a new development for the City of New Orleans' sanitation contract saga, the city has signed two new sanitation contracts despite the ongoing dispute with the current sanitation service. IV Waste will be serving Lakewood and Waste Pro will cover the Lower Ninth Ward and New Orleans East. The contracts are set to last for seven years and will have once-a-week pickups with no fee increase. (WGNO New Orleans)
