Here are the top stories today in New Orleans:

  1. New Orleans City Council responded to Mayor LaToya Cantrell's letter request for help finding the next NOPD Superintendent with a set of recommendations. The council recommended that an interim chief be appointed after Shaun Ferguson leaves his post on Dec. 22 to allot more time for a nationwide search. The council also recommended creating a selection committee and the opportunity to confirm the appointee through the Council confirmation process. (WWLTV)
  2. A man was shot to death on Louisa Street early Monday morning. Police responded to the scene after the shooting transpired around 12:40 a.m. and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound dead at the scene. The New Orleans Corner will publish the victim's identity once they are identified, and their family has been notified. (WDSU)
  3. The NFL has supposedly fined the New Orleans Saints a total $550,000 for the allegedly 'faked' injury of their defensive end, Cameron Jordan, who has been accused of receiving direction to go down with an injury that stopped play on Monday in order to delay the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from setting up the line of scrimmage on the 4th and 10 during the 4th quarter. The Saints released a statement denying the allegations. (Yahoo Sports)
