First, today's weather:

A heavy t-storm in the p.m.. High: 87 Low: 75.

Here are the top three stories in New Orleans today:

  1. The intersection of Clio Street and Baronne Street will be temporarily closed through August 24 as a part of the Central City Patch Mill Overlay project, which is installing an 8-inch water line through the area. The closure will expand to the Clio and Carondelet as well, beginning August 15. (Press Release Desk)
  2. The long-awaited Baton Rouge to New Orleans commuter train will receive its first round of federal infrastructure funding to get the work started. This funding will allow the Baton Rouge-New Orleans Inner-City Rail project to begin purchasing land and designing train stations. (WWNO)
  3. Mardi Gras Krewes are patiently awaiting news about the length of the parade routes for Mardi Gras 2023. After a COVID hiatus in 2021, Krewes and New Orleanians were eager to return to the streets for some normal celebration, but due to understaffed NOPD forces, the city had to cut routes short. The mayor's office is trying to retain more officers for public safety, and by extension longer parade routes. There is still no news from the Mayor's Mardi Gras Advisory Council whether routes will return to a normal length next year. (FOX 8 Local First)

(New Orleans Health Department via Facebook)
