🌱 Duplessis Wins Senate Seat + Mayor's Appoints Must Now Be Approved

Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:

  1. New Orleans has elected a new state senator, Democrat Royce Duplessis, who beat out his challenger Mandy Landry by 52%. Duplessis will take over the spot previously occupied by former Senator Karen Carter Peterson who resigned in April citing a gambling addiction. Duplessis will represent the Eastbank, Westbank, downtown and the CBD. (WDSU New Orleans)
  2. The only proposition on New Orleans' 2022 midterms ballot has passed, now requiring that City Council approve the Mayor's appointments to major posts. It passed with a 62% approval, signifying that New Orleanians want more transparency in their government. (WWLTV.com)
  3. A man was shot and killed on Wednesday night in Little Woods. Police arrived on scene after 9:30 pm to Bishop Morton Drive and confirmed a man dead at the scene just before 9:50 pm. (WWLTV.com)
