Here are the top three stories in New Orleans today:
- Demonstrators arrived at Entergy Headquarters on Monday to protest the rising cost of electricity bills that have placed many New Orleans households in recent months. Though Entergy has temporarily put a hold on shut offs through November, protestors also want to extend it all across the state of Louisiana.
- A man was killed after suffering multiple gunshot wounds in the backyard of a home in Harvey on Tuesday. JPSO arrived at the scene just after 2:30 p.m. and to find the victim who was then declared dead. Any further information has yet to be released as JPSO continues to investigate the crime. (WDSU New Orleans)
- NOPD is searching for a suspect who allegedly fired at a group of people from a bicycle on North Lopez Street. Images from surveillance videos have been released of the suspect, who stopped across the street and yelled something before firing a single shot from a pistol. (WKRG News 5)

- Join the New Orleans Museum of arts Friday for First Fridays at NOMA. On August 5 from 6–10 pm with live music, DJ sets and pop-up exhibits. (NOMA via Instagram)
- Join the New Orleans Recreation and Development Commission for Back to School Expo, on July 13 from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. at multiple locations! There will be free backpacks, school supplies and an opportunity to learn more about fall programs. (New Orleans Recreation Development Commission via Facebook)
