🌱 Extended Vaccine Mandate + Quality Of Life Ticketing Approved

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in New Orleans.

Hey, neighbors! It's me again, Shannon Denney, your host of the New Orleans Daily.

First, today's weather:

Cloudy with a few showers. High: 79 Low: 58.

Here are the top three stories today in New Orleans:

  1. A 3rd victim has come forward in the case against a Jefferson Parish fire investigator of sexual abuse with minors. He faces accusations of indecent behavior with a juvenile and sexual battery. (NOLA.com)
  2. Affordable housing rezoning and quality of life ticketing measures were approved by City Council on Thursday. This will incentivize developers to build multi-unit housing and allow city officials to ticket citizens on nine different "quality of life" violations. (WWNO)
  3. Starting in January, NOLA city officials will extend the vaccine mandate to children 5 and above. They are also considering bringing back the mask mandate. (WWLTV.com)

Today in New Orleans:

  • Tulane University Men's Basketball vs Grambling State University (2:00 PM)
  • A Jazzy Christmas Concert with Quiana Lynell (5:00 PM)

From my notebook:

  • New Orleans Saints play the Buccaneers Sunday at 7:20 pm on NBC (Instagram)
  • The Saints Head Coach Sean Payton tested positive for COVID-19 and was immediately isolated. He has been fully vaccinated. Per NFL protocols, Payton will be out for 10 days (Instagram)
  • The New Orleans Health Department is extending its COVID-19 mandate due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases and the anticipated surge in cases after the holidays. The City of New Orleans is expanding the COVID-19 vaccine/testing mandate that went into effect on August 12th. (Facebook)
