🌱 Finally Krewe Of Boo's Old Route + Three Men Freed From Prison

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in New Orleans.

Hey, friends. It's Saturday in New Orleans and I'm back in your inbox to get you caught up on the most important things happening locally, including news on...

  • For the first time in awhile, Krewe of Boo will roll on its original route
  • The director of Forward Together has been ordered by a judge to step down
  • Three men have been freed from prison after falsely serving 28 years

But first, today's weather:

Sunny and pleasant. High: 82 Low: 63.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in New Orleans who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our New Orleans Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:

  1. The Krewe of Boo is prepared to roll today on its original route. In the past few years, the Krewe has had to operate with modified and shortened routes due to the pandemic and the collapse of the Hard Rock Hotel. The parade will begin at Elysian Fields and end at Andrew Higgins Drive. (WDSU New Orleans)
  2. The leader of the nonprofit founded by Mayor LaToya Cantrell, Forward Together, has been ordered by a judge to step down from his position. An investigating spurred by accusations from former directer Shuan Randolph forced the non-profit to halt its spending about a month ago, to which the organization filed a lawsuit against Randolph claiming they were falsely accused and that Randolph was fired back in August, though up until the order from the judge Randolph was acting as if he was still instated. (WDSU New Orleans)
  3. Three Louisiana men have been freed from prison after serving 28 years for a 1994 murder now linked to a corrupt New Orleans cop. All three men were teens at the time of the drive by shooting that has been connected to two corrupt cops who spent their time on the force protecting city drug dealers.

Today in New Orleans:

  • Kyiv City Ballet presented by NOBA at the Mahalia Jackson Theater for the Performing Arts (7:30 PM)
  • RuPaul's Drag Race Night of the Living Drag (10:00 PM)

From my notebook:

  • Zapp's is introducing a new flavor, 'Voodoo-Spiced' Pretzel Sticks! (Eater New Orleans)
  • NOLA's first ever 'Sober Fest' will be held at Mardi Gras World on November 12th and will benefit no-cost substance abuse programs. (The New Orleans 100)
  • There are two weeks left to enter the Louisiana Museum Foundation's Founders Ball IV Gala Giveaway where they will be offering 2 Ball tickets to this year's Gala to one winner and a guest of their choosing. (Louisiana Museum Foundation via Facebook)

You're officially in the loop for today! I'll see you soon.
