🌱 Fire at Orleans Parish District Court + Fatal Hit And Run

Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:

  1. A fire broke out at the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on Sunday morning. NOFD firefighters arrived on scene just before 7:20 AM in a first floor office. The cause of fire has been categorized as "very suspicious" but was brought under control by 7:50 AM, but the court will be closed on Monday. (WDSU New Orleans)
  2. The jester float in the Krewe of Pygmalion was "decapitated" after running into an oak tree limb on Saturday night. The collision happened at Magazine and Jefferson and a rider fell off the float when they went to check the damage. The parade was delayed by half an hour but the rider was not injured. (WWLTV)
  3. A suspect has been arrested in the case of a fatal hit and run in Jefferson on Saturday evening. Around 7:30 PM, a woman was crossing the westbound lanes of US 90 when she was struck by a vehicle. The victim suffered injuries and died at the scene after the vehicle fled. Lousiana state police was able to identify the vehicle and a Gretna woman has been arrested. (WDSU New Orleans)
