Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:
- Two are dead and three injured in five Thanksgiving shootings across New Orleans. At around 6 p.m. on Marais Street, the first shooting took place where one man was shot and then arrived at a hospital on his own. The second shooting took place at 8 p.m. where a 46-year-old woman was shot and died at the scene of a home on North Robertson Street. Both shootings took place in St. Claude. After a few hours break, NOPD arrived on scene to a 26-year-old man who was shot around 2 a.m. on Julia Street. Subsequently at 3:30 a.m., one man was shot in the hand on Chef Menteur Highway and the final shooting took place at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, where a woman sustained multiple gunshot wounds on Bienville Street and was taken to the hospital. - A two-alarm fire on Thanksgiving morning left six residents displaced near Audubon Park. Around 10:45 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department received a call reporting a fire in a three-story structure. All residents escaped successfully, but NOFD called a second alarm because of the size of the house. The fire was under control by 11:20 a.m. (WWLTV)
- A man who fell off a cruise that departed from New Orleans was rescued by the Coast Guard on Thanksgiving Day. The man was treading water in the Gulf of Mexico for what seems like a few hours while the Coast Guard searched for him, and the cruise ship retraced its route to try and find him. The man was taken via helicopter to the New Orleans Lakefront Airport for medical treatment. (WGNO)
