Here are the top stories today in New Orleans:
- Mayor Cantrell will be traveling to a summit in Argentina this coming week where she is scheduled to speak about New Orleans' response to the climate crisis. This trip will be her second overseas trip this month and her travel upgrades will be paid for out of her own pocket (WDSU New Orleans)
- Four duplexes caught fire on Franklin and Derbigny Streets on Saturday night. A fire broke out in an appliance repair shop that then spread to two shotgun doubles on the sides of the building. In total, five people lost their homes. 19 NOFD unites with a total of 68 firefighters were called to bring the fire under control and the cause of the fire is still unknown (WWLTV.com)
- The New Orleans Saints Running Back, Alvin Kamara, is being sued for a $10 million in compensatory and punitive damages after he allegedly assaulted a man in a Las Vegas casino earlier this year. According to the plaintiff, and corroborated by video surveillance, Kamara allegedly got into a physical altercation along with other members of his group that left the plaintiff unconscious and eventually hospitalized.
