Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:

  1. A man was shot and killed on Bourbon Street on Wednesday afternoon. Around 1:50 pm, NOPD officers began investigating after a man was shot at the intersection of Toulouse and Bourbon streets. (WDSU New Orleans)
  2. A man who was mistakenly released from a Louisiana jail in November while awaiting sentencing for a murder conviction who authorities have been on the hut for was finally captured in a New Orleans hotel on Wednesday. He is being held in the New Orleans Parish Prison as a fugitive. (KLFY)
  3. During training on Wednesday morning, a New Orleans Police recruit shot himself in the leg. NOPD is currently investigating to determine the cause of the situation and closed down interstate roads to transport the recruit to the hospital for treatment for the injury, which is considered to be non-life threatening.
