Here are the top stories today in New Orleans:

  1. Applications for Louisiana's 10th medical marijuana permit for the state located in the New Orleans area is drawing high-profile applicants. Former Superintendent of NOPD, Tulane University, the Louisiana Democratic Party chair and former NFL Player Steve Gleason are all vying for the single chance to run NOLA's medical marijuana dispensary. (WBRZ)
  2. Tropical Storm Ian is expected to strengthen into a Category 4 as it enters the Gulf Coast though it remains unlikely that New Orleans will experience serious bad weather as a result. The storm is predicted to hit Florida and NOLA might experience strong winds later in the week in the aftermath. (FOX 8 Local First)
  3. Two people were found shot to death in vehicle parked outside a residence in Marrero on Saturday night. JPSO Deputies were called to the scene around 5:40 pm where they found a man and woman who had suffered gunshot wounds. (NOLA.com)
