Here are the top stories today in New Orleans:

  1. Over 40 people have plead guilty in their involvement with a "wide-ranging federal staged accidents probe" that was first investigated back in 2018. Four people have been sentenced on charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud with one serving prison time and the rest on probation. (WDSU New Orleans)
  2. A family of four was killed in an apparent murder-suicide in Harvey on Thursday morning. The father reportedly called 911 around 7:50 a.m. before the incident occurred. The father was the dad of the 13-year-old and a stepfather to a 20 year old. Investigators are trying to determine if there was one or two shootings, and a current theory is that the two parents conspired to commit the crime together. (FOX 8 LIVE)
  3. A man and woman were being robbed at gunpoint in the French Quarter on Friday morning when a passerby saw the incident transpiring, hopped off his bicycle and wrestled the gun from the suspects hands. The unknown suspect had approached the couple at around 3 a.m. when the bystander intervened. (FOX 8 Local First)
