Hello again, everybody! I'm back with your new edition of the New Orleans Daily, fresh off the presses. Here's all the local news you need to know right now.

First, today's weather:

Plenty of sunshine. High: 92 Low: 76.

Here are the top stories today in New Orleans:

  1. A 16-year-old was sentenced to 55 years in prison by a Jefferson Parish judge for carjacking a couple in Harahan at gunpoint in February. The 16-year-old, Maurice Ervin, was tried as an adult for jumping into the drivers seat while the wife was in the passenger seat and holding her at gunpoint while attempting to drive away. The husband tackled and struggled with Ervin, while the wife was able to get out of the car but Ervin eventually drove away, running over the husband's foot in the process. (FOX 8 Local First)
  2. Mike Evans, the wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who instigated a fight between players during the Buccaneers vs New Orleans Saints game on Sunday, has received a one-game suspension for his role in the brawl that resulted in Evans and Saints' cornerback Marshon Lattimore being ejected from the game.
  3. Three people were shot and one person was killed in a string of three shootings on Saturday night. The first incident transpired just before 8 p.m. outside Kipp East Community Primary School where two men were shot and one later died from his injuries. Just five minutes before the double shooting was reported, a woman was shot on Louisa St and was brought to the hospital for treatment. The final shooting occurred two hours later on Dwyer Road where a male victim was shot and taken to the hospital for treatment. (WDSU New Orleans)
