Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:

  1. New Orleans firefighters rescued a wheelchair bound resident from 2-alarm fire on Sunday morning. The fire began around 2 am and shortly NOFD was notified that a person trapped inside a burning house in Milneburg. After the resident was rescued a second alarm was called for assistance and the fire was under control by 2:45 am. (FOX 8 Local First)
  2. A photo of a missing Texas schoolteacher, Michelle Reynolds, has surfaced of her walking through the streets of New Orleans on September 23rd, a day after she was reportedly last seen by her husband wearing the same clothes. The search for Reyolds began when she left her car near a church in Alvin, Texas with all of her credit cards, ID, money and phone still inside.
  3. Police are searching for the 21-year-old suspect Ashely Marie Johnson-Washington after an investigation has connected her as responsible for a homicide in St. John on Saturday. Johnson-Washington fled the scene in a 2012 Kia heading eastbound on I-10 and St. John deputies are asking for public assistance in locating her.

  • The St. Francis of Assisi Church, in preparation of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, will be blessing pets and their caretakers now through October 4th. (Clarion Herald)
  • Preservation Hall Foundation is honoring six new inductees into their Legacy Program tonight. The foundation is celebrating the six culture bearers of New Orleans at Toulouse Theater at 6:30 pm. (WDSU New Orleans)
  • Early access tickets are open for NOLA Reggae Fest which will be coming to Congo Square October 14th-16th!
