Here are the top stories today in New Orleans:
- An empty lot nearby Bayou St. John has plans to be turned into a stormwater collection site and a public green space that will open this spring. The construction is being done by the Sewage and Water Board as a part of its green infrastructure plan under a federal consent decree. (Mid-City Messenger)
- A New Orleans nonprofit fighting for clean drinking water and environment safety recently ran tests that showed "forever chemicals" in the Lower Mississippi River. Other tests like these have been run before and shown similar results, but the EPA is expected to come out with enforceable drinking water standards that could affect where Louisianians around NOLA get their water. (The Advocate)
- The chief judge of Orleans Parish's Criminal District Court has announced that all jury venires will be delayed until March. In response to the announcement, the DA's office also released a statement saying they will continue to prepare for their trials despite the delay. (WDSU)
