The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in New Orleans.
Hello, hello! It's me, Shannon Denney, your host of the New Orleans Daily — back in your inbox with all the most important things happening in town these days. Let's dive in...
First, today's weather:

Here are the top three stories today in New Orleans:
- NOPD responded to a call of gunshots at the intersection of Loyola and Louisiana Avenue on Tuesday evening around 8:30 to find a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a car. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and a homicide investigation has begun to determine more details around his death. (WWLTV.com)
- The alleged theft of copper lines in mid-city caused a water main just off Tulane Avenue to blow on Tuesday. Thieves broke into a storage unit on Monday night trying to steal some copper pipes and left water pouring inside. While crews attempted to repair the damage on Tuesday, the water main blew and let gallons of water gush into the street throughout the day.(FOX 8 Local First)
- Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards held a press conference with the White House Monkeypox Response team to announce preparations made for Southern Decadence this weekend. Edwards requested that an additional 6,000 vaccines be sent to New Orleans to help vaccinate people at the festival and the response team will also be testing a mobile monkeypox testing facility throughout the weekend.
