🌱 No ADA Accessible Uber Rides In NOLA + Entergy Keeps Power On

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in New Orleans.

Hey, everybody! I'm back with your fresh copy of the New Orleans Daily. Let's get this Wednesday started off right, with a quick guide to the most important things happening around town.

First, today's weather:

A t-storm around in the p.m.. High: 90 Low: 78.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in New Orleans who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our New Orleans Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top five stories today in New Orleans:

  1. After pressure from City Council to mitigate the struggles faced by New Orleans residents with high energy bill costs, Entergy New Orleans has announced it will temporarily stop disconnections through November 1. This means even if residents are unable to pay their bills on time they will still have power supplied to their homes. (WDSU New Orleans)
  2. The jury in the DA Jason Williams tax fraud trial began deliberating on Tuesday morning after prosecutors closed their final argument. If convicted, Williams faces a potential felony charge with a prison sentence and automatic removal from his position as the DA. (U.S. News & World Report)
  3. The legal battle that began with New Orleans residents five years ago arguing that Uber should have to provide wheelchair accessible ride-share services in New Orleans and Jackson, MS was lost on Tuesday. The plaintiffs argued that it was a violation of the ADA for the ride-share app to not provide accessible rides but were ruled against by a judge. So far, it doesn't seem like accessible rides will be available anytime soon in New Orleans. (WLOX)

Today in New Orleans:

  • How to Start a Business Workshop in Spanish (6 p.m.$
  • 2022 Chamber Dine Around: Tujague's at the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce (6 p.m.)
  • NOLA Comedy Fest 2 at Comedy House New Orleans (8 p.m.)

From my notebook:

  • The New Orleans Saints announced that they will be partnering with the Cornerstone Chemical Company to "promote the importance of education and reading to future generations." (New Orleans Saints via Instagram)
  • The James Miller Memorial Health Fair & Blood Drive will take place at the Audubon Zoo Tea Room on July 30th. (New Orleans Magazine)

That's it for today! See you all tomorrow for your next update.
