Here are the top four stories today in New Orleans:

  1. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like New Orleanians will be receiving a twice-a-week trash pick up service anytime soon. Due to resources and staffing issues, the city is struggling to maintain even a once-a-week service and it doesn't plan to increase the frequency until the service it has now is running smoothly. (WWLTV.com)
  2. Currently, the city of New Orleans is not on track to spend the $2 billion allocated by the federal government for post-Katrina road repairs before the August 2023 deadline. The city stands to loose that unspent money unless a deadline extension is approved. The city estimates it has only spent between 20-30% of those funds which means there should be over $1 billion left in the grant. (The Lens)
  3. Dennis Moore has been chosen as the new magistrate commissioner for Orleans Parish Criminal District Court. Moore has worked as a private and civil defense attorney for 23 years and will take over the seat of Albert Thibodeaux, who resigned earlier this year. (NOLA.com)
  4. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a threat allegation at Riverdale High School. Though the school hasn't announced what exactly the threat was, it notified parents that there will be increased officers on campus while JPSO investigates.(WDSU New Orleans)
