🌱 No More Soft Drinks On Kids Menus + Lee Boulevard Renamed

Here are the top five stories in New Orleans today:

  1. On Tuesday, the New Orleans City Council unanimously passed a measure that bans soft drinks from appearing on kids' menus in NOLA restaurants. Going into effect on January 1st, 2023, this measure is supposed to help combat childhood obesity rates in the city. (WWNO)
  2. The New Orleans police have provided a video in an update on the fatal Bywater stabbing case. NOPD asks the public's help with identifying the person in the surveillance footage they've released. (WDSU New Orleans)
  3. A New Orleans East roadway that has been plagued by illegal dumping finally received approval to be cleaned by DOTD, and the process will begin next week. (WDSU New Orleans)
  4. The 2022 Mande King's Day Parade has been rescheduled due to the latest COVID surge. The parade will now take place on January 22nd. (nolaweekend.com)
  5. The New Orleans City Council has voted to rename Lee Boulevard, previously named after Robert. E. Lee, after one of NOLA's most iconic musicians: Allen Toussaint. The change will go into effect on February 1st. (WDSU New Orleans)
