Here are the top stories today in New Orleans:
- New Orleans police officer was found dead in her home on Tuesday morning from a gunshot wound. Police were called to her home around 8:30 a.m. for a welfare check on the 36-year-old woman. She was then discovered, and the incident is currently categorized as an "unclassified death." The woman had worked for NOPD for nine years. (WBRZ)
- Ahead of the storms expected today and tomorrow the Sewage and Waterboard has sent an update on the statuses of the drain pumps and turbines for the anticipated flooding. Ninety-five out of the 99 major pumps are operational in addition to Turbines 4, 5 and 6 being available for these next few days. Turbine 5 had to be restarted on Sunday due to a malfunctioning valve but should be ready for the coming days. (WDSU)
- Gov. John Bel Edwards announced that the Louisiana International Terminal in St. Bernard is getting a $1.8 billion expansion and will be partnering with the Port of New Orleans to help complete the project. The new container facility will help increase Louisiana's import and export capacity in addition to keeping more jobs in the state. (FOXNEWS)
