🌱Officer Who Ignored Rape Resigns + LA Bond Commission Funds Withheld

Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:

  1. A Federal Magistrate Judge put the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office under fire by expressing concern over the 'lack of transparency' it had when it came to building plans to house mentally ill inmates. The sheriffs office and city were ordered to appear in court after the city held a meeting with a corrections expert who had previously been employed by them. (WWLTV.com)
  2. The NOPD reserve deputy who has been accused of ignoring an ongoing rape he witnessed in the French Quarter, an injustice made known by a viral tweet, has resigned after video surveillance footage surfaced of him walking away while the crime was transpiring. (BRProud.com)
  3. Going on two months, the Louisiana Bond Commission is still refusing to finance a $39 million dollar sewer project for New Orleans since top city officials said they won't enforce the abortion ban. At a Bond Commission meeting held Thursday, members expressed distain at New Orleans's unwillingness to comply with the law, and cited they would continue to withhold the funds until they agreed to do so.
