Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:
- A wellness check called to a home in Fairgrounds on Tuesday morning reveled that three people had been shot to death in a house on Gentilly Boulevard. A neighbor called police to perform a check after not having seen the victims for many days and police discovered that the victims had been dead for several days and there were bullets inside the house. (WDSU New Orleans)
- Two men were shot and injured in shooting in Little Woods on Tuesday. Around 1:50 pm, the two victims were shot at the intersection of Wales and Sand Street. One was transported to the hospital via a private vehicle and the other was taken for treatment by EMS. (WDSU New Orleans)
- New Orleans City Council has added a last minute plan to erase up to $130M in NOLA residents' medical debt. A $1.3 million expenditure was added to the 2023 budget to go towards an organization that buys outstanding debt from collection agencies and health care providers. City Council is working with the organization to finalize a timeline which will hopefully be complete by early this year. (WWNO)
