🌱 Raw Sewage Plagues Lakeview Business + Dumaine Street Shooting
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in New Orleans.
Hey, neighbors. It's me, Shannon Denney, your host of the New Orleans Daily — here to explain all the most important things happening in town. Let's do it...
First, today's weather:
Sunny and pleasant. High: 88 Low: 76.
Here are the top three stories in New Orleans today:
- NOPD officers arrived on Dumaine Street Tuesday night to preform a wellness check when they found two victims, a man and woman, dead from gunshot wounds. Neighbors in the Treme neighborhood called in the wellness check just after 7 p.m. The details of the crime are still under investigation. (WGNO New Orleans)
- Raw sewage has been spilling out in front of businesses in a Lakeview strip mall for over a month. Businesses haven't been able to use their bathrooms because of an open sewer line that was poorly repaired by the S&WB and which results in the the sewage ending up out in the open. In addition to a running water main, the situation is dire and residents are extremely frustrated with the S&WB for its lack of action. (WWLTV.com)
- As lawsuits are beginning to pile up after the partial collapse of the Hard Rock Hotel in October 2019, a judge has appointed a mediator to help with settlements. Many were injured and three were killed in the collapse. It took 10 months for all bodies to be removed from the wreckage. (Biz New Orleans)
