Happy 2022, neighbors! Here's everything you need to know to start today off on an informed note. These are the most important things happening today in town.

First, today's weather:

Breezy; a strong evening thunderstorm. You can expect a high of 82 and a low of 66.

Here are the top five stories today in New Orleans:

  1. The implementation of $2 billion in federal funding is looking good for road repair in 2022. Most of the central city will see sidewalk, street, and sewage repairs this coming year. (Uptown Messenger)
  2. NOPD has released a new photo of a car and person to help look for information in a Christmas Day homicide. (WDSU New Orleans)
  3. A fire broke out in a home on Arthur Drive early Christmas morning calling 16 NOFD units to the scene. No injuries were reported, though the home was destroyed. (Press Release Desk)
  4. After a chase through St. Tammy parish, the NOPD has arrested their murder suspect for a woman killed in St. Anthony's neighborhood. (WWLTV.com)
