🌱 RTA Gets Rid Of 'GoMobile' App + Salvation Army Food Shortage

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in New Orleans.

Hello and happy Wednesday. I'm back in your inbox this morning to walk you through everything you need to know about what's happening these days in town. Let's dive right in...

First, today's weather:

Showers and a heavier t-storm. High: 83 Low: 76.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in New Orleans who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our New Orleans Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top five stories in New Orleans today:

  1. Police were called to Loyola's Broadway campus after an alleged rape took place in one of the dorms on Sunday. The crime took place in the victim's dorm room of Cabra Hall by an accused perpetrator who is not affiliated with Loyola. The community was notified early Monday morning. The incident remains under investigation by NOPD and LUPD. (Maroon)
  2. New Orleans' Salvation Army is facing a serious shortage in their food pantry and is urging the public to bring in more donations. With inflation compounded and Hurricane Ida rebuilding efforts, the Salvation Army is receiving over 100 calls a day for help. It is struggling to meet demand since donations are also suffering from the recent economic downturn. (WWLTV.com)
  3. The Regional Transit Authority is transitioning from its old navigation app, 'GoMobile.' Starting August 28, RTA will now use the app 'Le Pass' to serve riders. 'Le Pass' is a part of RTA's effort to improve the transit system. App users will be able to track buses, ferries and streetcars in real time along with mobile payment and trip planning services.
