🌱 S&WB Pumps Out Of Service + Cantrell Speaks On Reproductive Rights

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in New Orleans.

Hey, friends! It's me, Shannon Denney, your host of the New Orleans Daily. Here's what you need to know about what's happening in town...

First, today's weather:

A t-storm around in the p.m.. High: 90 Low: 79.

Here are the three top stories in New Orleans today:

  1. Amid the recent downpour, the Sewage and Water Board announced that some of its water pumps are out of service in Lakeview and Algiers. The pumps have been unable to keep with the severe weather due to damages and have only contributed to the record breaking flooding. The board expects to get them back later this month. (WDSU New Orleans)
  2. NOPD is currently investigating an early morning shooting that left one dead in Hoffman Triangle on Friday. Police responded to reports of a shooting around 3:30 a.m. on South Roman Street and found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds, who later died at the scene. (Uptown Messenger)
  3. Mayor Cantrell released a statement on Wednesday regarding her stance on Louisiana's recent legislation update on reproductive healthcare. She stated that "it is regrettable that the Louisiana legislature continues to ignore the voices of women." She continued on to affirm her solidarity with the reproductive rights movement.
