Here are the top three stories in New Orleans today:
- Two South Louisiana college campuses were forced to evacuate Wednesday after receiving bomb threats. Nunez Community College and South Louisiana Community College's Morgan city campus notified their students of the situation on Wednesday morning while fire departments were called to investigate the area. Both campuses received an all-clear, but there is an ongoing investigation into who called in the threats. (WGNO New Orleans)
- New Orleans council members will meet today to discuss making abortion investigations the lowest priority for police. They will also consider implementing something similar to the City of Austin's GRACE Act, which recommends that city funds not be used for soliciting, cataloging, reporting or investigating abortions in NOLA. (WGNO New Orleans)
- The DOJ announced that a 22-year-old Kentucky man has been charged with threatening a 5th grade class at Laureate Academy Charter School via Zoom back in October of 2020. The man allegedly made racially motivated threats at a 5th grade Jefferson Parish class while school was being conducted online and joined the Zoom call. The man, Brian Adams, faces up to five years in prison for his alleged crime over state lines. (WDSU New Orleans)
