Here are the top three stories in New Orleans today:
- In an effort to crack down on reckless driving, texting while driving in a New Orleans school zone will now be $500 fine upon first offense. A second offense will be a $1,000 fine and a 60-day license suspension. (WWLTV.com)
- New Orleans K-12 public schools will be following the new CDC guidelines for the upcoming school year. Students will now be required to quarantine for five days if they contract COVID, while students who are exposed in school will have to wear a mask for ten days unless they develop symptoms and need to be sent home. (WDSU New Orleans)
- A carjacking suspect was struck and killed on the interstate while fleeing a police pursuit on Monday night. NOPD Officers were following a car involved in a carjacking crime when the car pulled over and it's three occupants fled the vehicle, two ran into the neighborhood and one attempted to cross the interstate. Family of Restaurants will expertly prepare various cuts of Louisiana beef from Gosoulin Farms and Coastal Plains Farm to showcase their creativity and create a delicious meal."
