Here are the top stories in New Orleans today:
- A Tulane student was carjacked and robbed at gunpoint at the intersection of Birch and Broadway early Friday morning. The student parked their car outside a resident when a black SUV pulled up behind the vehicle. Two suspects emerged with guns and the student dropped property on the ground after they demanded money and then ran inside the residence. The two suspects left with the property and drove away in the car. (Tulane Hullabaloo)
- A 15-year-old boy was among the three killed in a shooting on Banks Street last Saturday. The three victims, the other two who were men in their twenties, died in a car chase and shootout that damaged many nearby homes as shots were fired. Of the 13 murders in New Orleans so far in 2023, this is the second deadly incident involving a teenager. (WWLTV.com)
- A 50 foot mound of rubber caught fire at Southern Scrap a bit after 5 pm on Friday evening. The fire is expected to burn throughout the night and fire fighters had to bring in bulldozers to clear the rubber. It is currently unclear what caused the fire. (WWLTV)
