Opelousas man arrested, 11.5 lbs. of synthetic cannabinoid seized (klfy.com) — An Opelousas man was arrested after deputies and federal agents seized about 11.5 pounds of a powerful synthetic cannabinoid from a home on Goodloe Street, the largest such bust yet in St. Landry Parish. Residents are urged to share any additional information with the sheriff’s office as investigators continue building the case.

OPD Is Hunting Suspect (stlandrynow.com) — Opelousas police are asking residents to help locate 44-year-old Rick Rubin of Opelousas, wanted in connection with two domestic violence investigations and several serious charges, including aggravated assault with a firearm. Authorities warn the public not to approach him, but instead call 911, the Opelousas Police Department, or St. Landry Crime Stoppers with any tips.

Raise, Civil Service Revisited (stlandrynow.com) — Opelousas officials are set to revisit whether a key water and wastewater supervisor should receive a raise from $73,000 to $101,000 despite questions about civil service pay limits. With aldermen split 3–3 and the mayor unable to break the tie, the outcome could affect both city staffing stability and how future municipal salaries are set.

Opelousas police warn public of impersonation scams (klfy.com) — Opelousas police are warning residents about phone scammers posing as local businesses, banks, or government agencies and demanding payments or personal data under threat of arrest. Officers stress they will never pressure you for financial details by phone and urge anyone who shared information to file a report immediately and closely monitor their accounts.
