1. 10-year-old special needs child injured, teachers report leads to mother's arrest (ktalnews.com) — A Shreveport teacher's quick report of visible injuries on a 10-year-old special needs student led police and child protection investigators to intervene and arrest the boy's mother on a cruelty to a juvenile charge. Authorities emphasize their strong stance against child abuse and praise the partnership between Shreveport Police, Caddo schools, and Child Protective Services in protecting vulnerable children.

Search continues for Savannah Hale, missing four years (ksla.com) — Investigators are still searching for Savannah Hale, who disappeared after leaving downtown Shreveport around 4 a.m. four years ago while driving a gray 2012 Kia Forte. The Adventures with Purpose dive team continues returning to area waterways, using new community tips to target fresh locations in the Red River and 12 Mile Bayou as they work to bring answers to her family and the city.

Preseason blitz: Green Oaks look to 'Protect Giant Land' under Nick Peoples (ktalnews.com) — Green Oaks fans in Shreveport can look forward to a fresh football season under head coach Nick Peoples, who's turning last year's interim success into a full-time push to "Protect Giant Land." With an experienced core led by all-district quarterback Javontaye Dean and a hungry defense, the Giants open at home against Southwood on Thursday, September 3 at 7 p.m.
   

4. LSUS undergraduates gain valuable research experience in funded summer program (shreveportbossierjournal.com) — LSU Shreveport students are spending their summer tackling real-world problems, from detecting oral health markers to predicting groundwater levels that supply the Shreveport-Bossier area. Through the new PURE program, undergraduates work one-on-one with faculty on funded research projects, gaining hands-on experience that could shape local environmental management, medical understanding, and future careers.
