• State boys basketball tournament leaving Lake Charles after more than a decade (americanpress.com) — Sulphur residents will still see state softball, baseball, and swimming tournaments hosted by Sulphur Parks and Recreation for at least two more years, even as the boys basketball state tournament leaves nearby Lake Charles for Lafayette’s Cajundome. Local leaders say they’ll bid to bring basketball back and are already searching for new events to keep major sports activity in Southwest Louisiana.
