Bitterly Cold Wind Chills To Sweep Through Parts Of Maine
A wind chill advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday until 9 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
CARIBOU, ME — Bundle up, Mainers: Wind chills are expected to drop to dangerous levels in many parts of the state Thursday night.
A wind chill advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Thursday until 9 a.m. Friday for portions of the Central Highlands, far northern and Northwoods Maine, according to the National Weather Service in Caribou. The advisory includes Aroostook, Somerset, Piscataquis, Franklin and Oxford counties.
According to the National Weather Service, wind chills could drop as low as 20 to 30 degrees below zero Thursday night. A wind chill of 30 below zero can cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
