Maine Weather: First Spring Snow, Ice, Rain On The Way

A mix of snow, sleet, and ice could blanket parts of the state Thursday into Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

CARIBOU, ME — The first round of spring snow is headed for Maine on Thursday and could drop as much as 8 inches of fresh powder in parts of the state, according to a recent forecast.

A winter weather advisory has been issued for several counties in Maine, according to the National Weather Service. Here's a look at what to expect over the coming days:

Northeast Aroostook and Northwest Aroostook Counties

A winter weather advisory is in effect here from 10 a.m. Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday, according to forecasters.

A total of 5 to 8 inches of new snow is expected.

Portions of Central Highlands, Far Eastern and North Maine Woods

A winter weather advisory is in effect here from 10 a.m. Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday.

Those in the advisory area should expect mixed precipitation including 4 to 6 inches of new snow, one-third of an inch of sleet and one-tenth of an inch of ice accumulation.

Central Penobscot, Southern Piscataquis and Northern Washington Counties.

A winter weather advisory is in effect here from 10 a.m. Thursday to 4 p.m. Friday.

Those in the advisory area should expect mixed precipitation including 1 to 3 inches of new snow, a half-inch of sleet and one-tenth of an inch of ice accumulation.
