Maine Weather: Winter Storm Watch In Effect; Snow, Ice Possible
As the system moves into Maine, it's expected to bring heavy snow with accumulations between 5 to 10 inches.

CARIBOU, ME — Much of Maine is under a winter storm watch starting Thursday as a massive swath of the United States braces for a significant winter storm that's predicted to put millions of Americans in the path of heavy snow and freezing rain.
A winter storm watch is in effect Thursday afternoon through Friday evening, according to the National Weather Service office in Caribou. A watch means there's potential for the state to receive significant snow, sleet or ice accumulations that could affect travel.
As the system moves into Maine, it's expected to bring heavy snow with accumulations between 5 to 10 inches. Portions of south-central and southwest Maine could see between 6 to 9 inches of snow.

Parts of the Central Highland and Penobscot Valley Region will likely see the most snow, according to the NWS. Ice accumulations are also possible.
