• York County forum airs transportation highlights, challenges (sacobaynews.com) — Alfred recently hosted the first York County Transportation and Mobility Forum at the county government building, where providers and officials tackled how to improve rides for seniors and people with disabilities. Organizers aim to make this an annual Alfred-based check-in on volunteer driver shortages, funding needs, and better connections between local towns, transit agencies, and state-level support. 
• 2026 Maine Hire-A-Vet Campaign announces job fair locations (penbaypilot.com) — Alfred will host a Maine Hire-A-Vet job fair on October 15 at the York County Regional Training Center, giving local veterans, military families, and other jobseekers direct access to hiring employers. The statewide campaign kicks off in Augusta and continues with fairs in Bangor and Norway, all focused on connecting Mainers with career opportunities and support resources.
