• Kennebec County Jail correctional officer indicted on sexual assault charges (centralmaine.com) — In Augusta, a Kennebec County Jail corrections officer has been indicted on felony charges alleging sexual contact with an inmate under his supervision. He was arrested in August, released on bail with strict no-contact conditions, and is scheduled to appear at the Capital Judicial Center in Augusta later this month for arraignment.
• Newsworthy people and performances for Oct. 5, 2026 (mainebiz.biz subscription) — An Augusta-based group, the Maine Forest Products Council, honored Timber Resource Group president Allan Ryder with its top Albert D. Nutting Award during its annual meeting.
