Lewiston Police Officer Stabbed 5 Times

Lewiston Police Cpl. Michael Dumond is recovering after suspect Jonathan Order stabbed him five times Monday, authorities said.

LEWISTON, ME β€” A Lewiston police officer was stabbed five times by a domestic violence suspect Monday, authorities said. Miraculously, none of Corporal Michael Dumond's injuries were considered life-threatening and he was treated and released from Central Maine Medical Center the same day, according to police.

The suspect, Jonathan Order, of 113 College St., Apt. 2, was charged with attempted murder β€” among a host of other charges. Order is also accused of attacking two more police officers.

Police said they responded to Order's apartment at about 2:30 a.m. to arrest him in connection with a domestic violence incident a few hours earlier in Sabattus. Police said Order refused to open the door and threatened officers. After about a half-hour, Order opened the door and rushed Dumond, stabbing him with a knife then retreating back inside, police said. Dumond was stabbed in the upper torso and hand.

  • Attempted murder
  • Assaulting a police officer (four counts)
  • Drug trafficking
  • Aggravated domestic violence

More charges are likely, police said. Order was held at the jail pending an arraignment.
