Fatal 2-vehicle crash in Augusta under investigation (newscentermaine.com) — A deadly two-vehicle crash at Route 3 and West River Road in Augusta Thursday morning killed one driver and temporarily shut down a key stretch of Route 3 near the I-95 roundabouts. Augusta and Maine State Police are still investigating and have not yet released the victim's name, but say more details will come in a news release as their work continues.
   

2. Your UMA-covered KVYMCA membership is here - University of Maine at Augusta (uma.edu) — UMA students, staff, and eligible family members in Augusta can now get a Kennebec Valley YMCA membership fully covered by the university, replacing the old Augusta Civic Center fitness option. You'll apply using forms on the MyUMA portal, then bring them to the Union Street YMCA in Augusta, where staff will be on hand this afternoon to answer questions and help you sign up.
   

3. Augusta school board, 'Corn Pop' reach settlement in federal free speech lawsuit (pressherald.com) — Augusta's Board of Education has agreed to settle a federal free speech lawsuit brought by resident Nicholas "Corn Pop" Blanchard over how public comments were limited at school board meetings. If approved by a judge, the deal locks in looser comment rules, requires ongoing compliance with a prior injunction, and has the board covering Blanchard's legal costs plus symbolic damages.
   

4. 'We all have to be part of the solution': Maine lawmakers explore solutions as maternal health care options dwindle (newscentermaine.com subscription) — State lawmakers and health leaders met in Augusta to confront shrinking maternal health care options, sparked by the planned closure of Lincoln Hospital's labor and delivery unit. Augusta's forum focused on solutions like financial incentives, telehealth, and expanded training to keep maternity services available for families across Maine.
   

5. Maine joins lawsuit over Trump administration's Title X rules (wgme.com) — From Augusta has joined more than 20 states in suing the Trump administration over new conditions tied to Title X family-planning funds. The Maine Attorney General's Office argues the rules unlawfully discourage contraception, stigmatize transgender people, and force clinics to promote marriage and parenthood, and is asking a court to block the changes and protect access to low-cost reproductive health care.
