Maine Girl Ejected in Street Race Crash: Police
A 16-year-old girl was seriously hurt after police said she was thrown from a car that crashed during an illegal street race.
LEVANT, ME β A street race involving multiple teenagers in Levant left one seriously injured, State Police announced Monday.
Police said on Thursday, Brady Johnson, 18, of Carmel, and Samuel Shelley, 20, of Hermon, were racing in a Chevrolet Cobalt and a GMC Sierra, respectively, police said. Johnson lost control trying to negotiate a sharp curve and rolled the vehicle into a steep ditch, police said. A 16-year-old girl in a passenger seat was ejected through a rear window and seriously injured, according to police. Two more passengers β a pair of 16-year-old girls β received minor injuries, police said.
Johnson and Shelley were charged with driving to endanger. Johnson was also charged with an intermediate license violation and Shelley was also charged with driving without a license.
