• Maine Library Commission supports paid director requirement, drops municipal funding proposal (newscentermaine.com) — Meeting in Augusta, the Maine Library Commission voted to require public libraries to have a designated paid director and a strategic plan in order to keep receiving key state services like interlibrary loans and internet access. Commissioners also eased proposed rules on staffing, hours, and municipal funding after pushback from small and rural libraries, and will take more public comment this fall.
