Find Your Next Job at UMA's Fall Job & Resource Fair on Wednesday, October 7 - University of Maine at Augusta (uma.edu) — A large job and resource fair is coming to the University of Maine at Augusta campus on Wednesday, Oct. 7, offering local residents access to more than 45 employers across healthcare, government, banking, manufacturing, and more. The free event at the Randall Student Center runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and organizers encourage attendees to bring multiple resumes and prepare a short introduction to make the most of on-site hiring opportunities.

2. Federal court bars Augusta school board from restricting public comments (newscentermaine.com) — A federal court has permanently blocked the Augusta School Department from enforcing key parts of its former public comment policy, after an Augusta resident argued it violated free speech rights. The consent judgment means residents can more freely criticize officials and discuss staff concerns at school board meetings, and it awards the plaintiff symbolic damages plus the opportunity to recover attorney fees.

3. DA drops assault charge against 'Truth Slinger' over Augusta school board incident (pressherald.com) — Augusta residents should know that prosecutors have dropped criminal assault charges against conservative activist Timothy "Truth Slinger" Bodnar over a June Board of Education meeting incident, but the school district's civil lawsuit and yearlong trespass order remain. Superintendent Mike Tracy says he won't lift the ban or suit unless Bodnar significantly improves his behavior over the next 10 months.

4. State restores hidden language in first Maine Constitution print since 1876 (newscentermaine.com) — In Augusta, state officials have unveiled the first newly printed Maine Constitution since 1876, restoring three long-hidden sections, including treaty obligations to Wabanaki tribes. Six hand-printed vellum copies, produced on a 19th-century press, will go to tribal leaders and tour the state before one settles at the Maine State Archives, highlighting renewed attention to Maine's full constitutional history.

5. Maine warns patients about contaminated "Deep Sea" cannabis concentrate (wmtw.com) — From Augusta, state cannabis regulators are warning medical patients in central Maine to stop using a concentrate called "Deep Sea" sold by Ganja World after tests found unsafe butane levels. Officials say affected 14-gram "baller jars" may cause respiratory and throat symptoms, urge anyone feeling ill to contact a doctor or call 911, and note the investigation is ongoing.
