SANFORD, ME β A Sanford man out on bail and without a valid license led a state trooper on a chase through Sanford Sunday, police said. Sean-Michael Grenier, 23, was driving a 2002 Volkswagen GTI on North Avenue in Sanford Sunday at about 10:20 a.m. when State Trooper Adam Schmidt attempted to pull him over for violations, according to state police. Grenier took off and led the trooper on a four-mile chase before stopping in Springvale on Riverbank Court.
"A high risk stop was conducted and (Schmidt) was able to take the driver ... into custody without incident," police said in a statement.
Police said Grenier's license was under five active suspensions. He was out on bail at the time, had a warrant for an unpaid fine, and his vehicle was not registered, police said.
