Spike Strip Thwarts Drunk Maine Driver in Chase: Police

BRENTWOOD, NH — A drunk Maine driver was arrested Saturday night after leading officers on a 25-mile chase through several New Hampshire communities, police said. Brian Harrington, 35, of Limington, was charged with a host of crimes.
Police said Harrington was driving a truck in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on Interstate 95 south at about 5:45 p.m. when a witness told police he was driving too fast and nearly hit a guard rail. A state trooper caught up to Harrington in Brentwood on Route 101 west and tried to pull him over but Harrington sped off, police said.
The chase entered Raymond, where police deployed a spike strip on Route 101. Police said that Harrington hit the device, deflating his front and rear driver-side tires.

Harrington made it to Manchester, where he ditched his vehicle on the Exit 1 ramp and fled on foot; he was quickly apprehended, police said.
