Maine Savings Amphitheater opens 2026 season Friday night (wabi.tv) — Big-name concerts return to the Bangor Waterfront this weekend as MGK and Wiz Khalifa kick off the 2026 season at Maine Savings Amphitheater on Friday, followed by Kid Cudi on Saturday. With 24 shows already booked and more possible, organizers say Canadian visitors are helping drive a strong summer lineup that could impact Bangor’s tourism and downtown businesses.
   

2. Bangor appoints new committee to address city's homelessness challenges (newscentermaine.com) — Bangor has created a new nine-member advisory committee to tackle homelessness, bringing together experts in housing, health care, and outreach. Members will review existing programs, identify service gaps, and recommend concrete steps to improve safety and quality of life for both housed and unhoused residents.
   

3. Bangor police investigate after Pride crosswalk defaced just 2 days into Pride Month (newscentermaine.com) — A Pride-themed crosswalk on State Street in downtown Bangor, near the Charlie Howard memorial, was recently found defaced with tire marks, prompting concern from residents and nearby business owners. City workers plan to repaint the crosswalk, while Bangor police say they’re monitoring the situation and locals are calling for resilience and respect during Pride Month.
   

4. KeyBank volunteers help spruce up Bangor Dog Park during annual 'Neighbors Make a Difference Day' (wabi.tv) — KeyBank employees recently spent a day volunteering at Bangor Dog Park, spreading new gravel in both the large- and small-dog areas to freshen things up for local pups and owners. The work was part of the bank’s long-running Neighbors Make a Difference Day, which connects staff with changing community needs across the region.

Noted geriatrician urges caution on expanded Alzheimer's blood testing (wabi.tv) — Bangor residents are hearing both enthusiasm and caution about new Alzheimer’s blood tests that promise earlier, less invasive diagnosis. A Northern Light Acadia Hospital geriatrician says they’re highly accurate for people already showing symptoms, but warns against broad screening years before dementia might appear, instead urging brain-healthy habits and highlighting a free Maine registry for aging research updates.
