• Brewer schools will pay $350K to conservative activist's estate (bangordailynews.com) — Brewer School Department has agreed to pay $350,000, via insurance, to the estate of a conservative activist to end a federal lawsuit over his removed online post about a Brewer High School bathroom. The years-long First Amendment dispute is now dismissed with prejudice, and school officials say they settled to avoid potentially steep legal fees while continuing to focus on protecting students and staff from bullying. 
• Northern Light expands therapy dog program to Presque Isle hospital (bangordailynews.com) — A Brewer-based kennel is helping train therapy dogs that now support patients and staff at four Northern Light hospitals, with the newest expansion reaching Presque Isle’s AR Gould Hospital. Northern Light’s program, partly run through Bear Brook Kennel in Brewer, is recruiting more volunteer dog-handler teams and experimenting with hybrid training so people far from Bangor-Brewer can join in.
• Brewer wins third-straight state spring Mario Kart championship (wabi.tv) — Brewer’s high school Mario Kart team just clinched its third straight spring state championship, extending a dominant run over rival Nokomis. Players say strong communication and a shared love of the game fuel their success. Now they’re turning their focus to the New England Championships coming up May 11–16.
